Welding will provide students with a proper foundation for welding careers. Students are taught Oxyfuel Gas Cutting Principles and Practices (Manual and Machine), Arc Cutting Principles and Practices (Air Carbon Arc Cutting and Plasma Arc Cutting including CNC), Welding Inspection and Testing Principles.

 

Welding Technology students will:

  • Research careers in the welding field
  • Learn how to weld in all positions, flat, horizontal, vertical, and overhead
  • Learn how to interpret blueprints
  • Learn how to layout projects from cutting, to tacking and completing the project
  • Learn about different types of structural materials such as steel, stainless steel and aluminum and applicable welding metallurgy
  • Learn semi-automatic welding processes
  • Make precision cuts in steel plates using superheated gasses
  • Learn how steal is formed from a liquid to solid
  • Get serious hands-on training in a variety of welding procedures including
  • Shielded Metal Arc Welding (SMAW)
  • Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW)
  • Flux Cored Arc Welding (FCAW)
  • Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW)

Industry Certifications a Student may earn:

  • OSHA
