School Counselor

The School Counselor at Connellsville Area CTC works with the Connellsville Area High School to coordinate guidance and support services for students. The purpose of the school counselor is to assist students in becoming successful students in school, at work and in their communities. Individual and group counseling is available to help students plan their career paths, prepare for employment or higher education and become self-disciplined and reliant. Information concerning educational and occupational opportunities is available in the counselor's office and students are encouraged to consider careers non-traditional to their gender.

Linkages to postsecondary schools, military recruiters and other agencies can also be made through the counselor. Students will review their Career Plan with the school counselor and parents are encouraged to discuss their child's post-high school plans.

The following is available in the counselor's office:

  • Career Reference Library (videos, school catalogs, books, etc.)
  • Job search
  • Financial Aid search
  • Postsecondary schools search
  • Referrals to outside agencies
  • Assistance in arranging appointments with military recruiters, postsecondary schools, etc.

Connellsville Area CTC has a Student Assistance Program (SAP), a team of school staff to help your child through difficult times. If you feel that your child may need help, call the CTC and ask to speak to the School Counselor to arrange for SAP assistance. The SAP Team will request that you sign a permission form for your child to become involved in the program. Participation is voluntary.
